City of Syracuse Announces Roadwork Schedule for July 21 through July 27

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse announced today its schedule of roadwork projects throughout the city for the week of July 21 through July 27.  More information, including detour maps, is available on the City of Syracuse roadwork webpage at www.syrgov.net/roadwork.

Erie Blvd. West Bridge over Onondaga Creek. This City project requires a full closure of Erie Blvd West between Plum Street and Franklin Street . The West Street ramp up to Erie Blvd West will remain open. The detour will be as described: Eastbound from Erie Blvd: south to West Street via ramp, east on Fayette Street, north on Salina Street, west on Genesee Street, south on Clinton Street, west to Erie Blvd. Westbound from Erie Blvd: south on Franklin Street, west on Washington Street, north on West Street, ramp to Erie Blvd.

Connective Corridor Projects

  • This City of Syracuse project will detour westbound traffic on Fayette Street at South Salina Street; north to Washington Street, west to Franklin Street, south to Walton Street and continue to West Fayette Street. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout.
  • This project will detour westbound traffic on East Genesee Street between Almond Street and McBride Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Almond St. south to Harrison St, west to State St. and north back to East Genesee St intersection. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout.
  • This project will detour westbound traffic on East Genesee Street between Townsend Street and State Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Townsend St. north to Fayette St., west to State St. and south back to East Genesee St intersection. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout.
  • This project will detour eastbound  traffic on East Fayette Street at State St. south to Genesee St., east to Townsend St. and north back to the East Fayette St intersection. Westbound traffic will be maintained.

 

West Street. This City led project will include significant lane reductions on West Street between W. Fayette St. and W. Onondaga St. due to milling and paving this area.

Oneida Street. This City led project will detour traffic on Oneida Street between Adams Street and Temple Street. The southbound detour will follow east on Adams St., south on S. Clinton St.,  and west on Taylor St. back to Oneida St. The northbound detour will follow east on Taylor St., north on S. Clinton St., and west on Adams St. back to Oneida.

Westcott Street. This City led project will include a road closure on Westcott Street between Dell Street and South Beech Street. Traffic will be detour around the block via Dell street and South Beech Street.

Midland Avenue. This City led project will include a road closure on Midland Avenue bridge over Onondaga Creek. Pedestrian access on the bridge will be maintained, but the southbound vehicular detour is: Midland east on Tallman,  south on Cortland back to Midland and the northbound vehicular detour is: Midland north on Cortland, west on Tallman, back to Midland.

West Genesee Street. This City led project will include a full street closure with detours. Westbound traffic on West Genesee St. will be detoured, north on State Fair Blvd., west on Hiawatha Blvd., north on Erie Blvd., and south on W. Fayette St. back to West Genesee St. Eastbound traffic will be detoured south on W. Fayette St., and north on Geddes St., back to West Genesee St. Erie Blvd West traffic will follow the same detours.

Lexington Avenue. This City led project will include block by block closure between Westcott Street and Westmoreland Avenue. Traffic may be detoured around the block.

East Fayette Street. This City Water Department project will detour eastbound traffic north on Warren St, east on Washington St, and south on Montgomery St back to Fayette St. Westbound traffic will be maintained.

The Arts and Crafts Festival in the Columbus Circle area runs Friday, July 25, through Sunday, July 27.  The following is the schedule of street closings and some alternative traffic routes:

  • The 200, 300 & 400 blocks of East Jefferson, the 300 and 400 blocks of Montgomery and the 100 & 200 blocks of East Onondaga Streets will be closed from 5 a.m. Friday, July 25, until Monday morning, July 28.

The Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival is in Clinton Square on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26.  Due to the Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival the following streets will be closed:

  • The 100 block of West Water Street will be closed from Thursday afternoon July 24, through Sunday morning, July 28.
  • Erie Boulevard West, between Clinton and Franklin Streets, will be closed at 6 a.m. on Friday, July 25, through Sunday morning, July 28.
  • Clinton Street, from West Genesee to Washington Streets, will be closed at 6 a.m. on Friday, July 25, through   Sunday morning, July 27.

BlueRain EcoFest and the Stage of Nations

  • The 100 block of East Genesee Street, through Hanover Square will be closed at 7 a.m. on Friday, July 25, and remain closed through Sunday morning, July 27.

Motorists who usually come through Clinton Square, can travel on either Salina or Franklin Streets.  Motorists traveling through the Columbus Circle neighborhood can use Salina or State Streets to travel north and southbound.
