Miner Announces New Web Page Informing Residents about Summer Construction Schedule

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Mayor Stephanie A. Miner announced today the City of Syracuse launched a new web page dedicated to informing Syracuse residents and Central New York commuters about delays and detours during the summer construction season. The webpage will host maps and graphics informing drivers of where work is being done in addition to suggestions on alternate routes.

“We anticipate this will once again be a busy construction season across the City of Syracuse,” said Mayor Stephanie A. Miner. “Between ongoing development projects and important infrastructure work, we consider it a top priority to find new and creative ways to keep the public informed about this work.”

The page, which can be found at www.syrgov.net/roadwork  will be posting weekly updates on major construction projects which are anticipated to result in detours and delays. The first installment, which went live on the site this morning, included the following information:

  • 690 Westbound Ramp to West Street: This NYSDOT project detours vehicles to the Geddes Street exit, proceed south on Geddes Street and proceed east to West Street via West Genesee Street or Erie Blvd. West.
  • Erie Boulevard West Bridge over Onondaga Creek: This City of Syracuse project beginning April 17, 2014 will have lanes reduced to one way in each direction. Although these travel lanes will be maintained, the ramp to West Street will be closed.
  • Connective Corridor on Fayette Street: This City of Syracuse project will detour vehicles beginning April 16, 2014. Westbound traffic on Fayette Street will detour at South Salina Street; north to Washington Street, west to Franklin Street, south to Walton Street and continue to West Fayette Street. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout.
