44,883 Tests have been Administered, Almost 10% of County: J. Ryan McMahon’s Daily Briefing 6-8-20

According to County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, it was a “Productive weekend for the community” as we have continued to broaden our testing with mobile testing sites. We had a death since Monday, African American male in his 50’s, our loss over the weekend a Caucasian female in her 60’s, and an additional loss from a nursing home according to the New York State website.

In Onondaga County 156 people have died as a result of COVID-19. McMahon continues, “Very difficult to deal with this. We have not been able to grieve together until recently, going to our church masque or synagogue. things are getting better we’re making progress, but this virus is still having an impact on our community.”

44,883 tests have been administered with 19 new cases. “We’ve almost tested 10% of our county”, according to McMahon. Since March 16th Onondaga County has had 2,324 total cases 1,232 have recovered. There are now 941 active cases, 70 hospitalized 13 in critical condition.
