Coming up on the one-year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd, New York State Assembly Member Pamela Hunter (D-Syracuse) stands with legislative colleagues, advocates, and affected families to demand an end to qualified immunity. The judicial doctrine gives public employees—including police and corrections officers—legal protection from civil accountability for rights violations. Qualified immunity has blocked thousands of families from seeking justice for law enforcement brutality against their loved ones. Assembly Member Hunter and Senator Jackson carry the bill to end qualified immunity in New York.
