Late Breaking News: Downtown businesses will be closing early, Clark’s Ale House, Aloha Japanese Bento Express, Dunkin Donuts and Liehs & Steigerwalds all closed around 2 p.m.
A group of committed, passionate and strong young leaders in Syracuse have organized a Black Lives Matter March and Protest for 4:00 PM Monday, July 18th.
It will begin at the Jerry Rescue Monument in Clinton Square on the Clinton Street side. The walk is approximately 1.2 miles.
Alliance of Communities Transforming Syracuse (ACTS) is joining the National Action Network, CNY NYCLU, and other community groups in supporting these leaders in an effort to ensure both a powerful and safe event.
It has been learned that many downtown businesses will be closing early. The Federal Building’s Day Care, will close by 3:30. Clark’s Ale House, Aloha Japanese Bento Express, Dunkin Donuts and Liehs & Steigerwalds all closed around 2 p.m.
We encourage you to consider attending this event as either an observer, or as a protester. It is important that we stand with our brothers and sisters who have important things to say and are striving for equity and justice – in particular regarding police and community relations. We appreciate your consideration.
We are aware that there are two other public events on Monday and invite you to learn more about these on your own, and make a decision whether you also want to support those efforts.
