Body Found In Sewer Identified as Brandon Closure

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After an examination by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s office, the body found in a sewer system this afternoon was positively identified as that of twenty-eight year old Brandon Closure.

Today at 2:00 p.m. workers from the Onondaga County Water Environment Protection Department (WEP) found a body in a sewer beneath the intersection of Franklin Street and Erie Boulevard. The body was removed by the Syracuse Fire Department and the Department of Public Works and was then taken from the scene for examination and identification.

Many City of Syracuse workers on their own time continued their search for Closure, who was helping a motorist get their vehicle out of water.  While attempting to push the vehicle this accident occurred.

Brandon Closure was swept away by flood waters. Closure dropped through a manhole which popped open due to the extreme volume of water in the system during what were flash flood conditions. His body was found in the sewer system, two miles away underground at downtown intersection.
