October’s Economic Development Edition: We offer alternatives to some of the cliche’ programs submitted by the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council to Governor Cuomo’s $1.5 billion Upstate Revitalization Initiative competition. Syracuse’s proposal is especially troubling since the cornerstone of minority inclusion contains a concept of a “minority Chamber of Commerce” however, the organization would serve a 16 county region. Centerstate CEO has spearheaded this operation that has Syracuse’s 65.2 impoverished African-American residents asking, “What About Us?”. This issue also examines some of the economic development proposals and completed projects such as the New Rescue Mission Facility.
