Free Skating Through March, Sponsored By Excellus/Blue Cross Blue Shield and Pathfinder Bank
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs has announced a partnership with Excellus/Blue Cross Blue Shield and Pathfinder Bank which will bring free ice skating to Clinton Square on Wednesday nights from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“We appreciate when the business community partners with the Parks Department to provide opportunities like this to the community,” said Baye Muhammad, Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs. “I appreciate the contributions of both Excellus and Pathfinder Bank who made this possible.”
Through underwriting from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, skaters will be able to enjoy free admission to the downtown ice rink on Wednesdays in January and March 4 and 11. Pathfinder Bank, which has recently opened a branch in the Pike Block in downtown, will underwrite free admission to the rink on Wednesday evenings in February.
“Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is pleased to partner with the City of Syracuse to help fund free skating in Clinton Square this winter,” said Arthur Vercillo, M.D., regional president, Excellus/BlueCross BlueShield. “As Central New York’s largest nonprofit health insurer, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield strives to live up to its mission of continually seeking ways to improve the health and health care of the residents of the communities it serves.
