City of Syracuse Darkens Downtown Christmas Tree in Memory of 2020 COVID-19 Victims

The lights on the Clinton Square Christmas tree were turned off January 2nd at 8 p.m. to pay tribute to a former city Parks employee and all of the victims of COVID-19 in Onondaga County in 2020.

William Winslow worked for the Parks Recreation and Youth Programs for 36 years and was a key member of the team who put up the city Christmas tree each year.  He died from COVID-19 on December 6, 2020.

The tree remained off for nearly eight hours, one minute for each person who succumbed to the virus in Onondaga County last year.
