Community Folk Art Center ceramic and glass art class

Cut loose this spring; explore your creative side at the Community Folk Art Center in our seven-week Ceramic and Glass Art Class. Fridays 6 to 8 p.m. May 1 thru June 12th, instructor Eunjung Shin Vargas will cover the basics of creating glass art . Students will begin the course with ceramic mold building techniques. These molds will serve as a tool that will facilitate the creation of beautiful glass arts pieces. Students will learn the fundamentals of crafting glass art pieces including cutting, firing schedules and design aspects.

This class will also explore the wide range of possibilities that slumping glass offers in creating decorative bowls, plates and abstract forms. The focus is on practical and creative work and your instructor will keep a close eye to help you achieve the best results. At the end of the course you will be able to keep all the pieces you have made. It’s perfect for beginners – no previous experience necessary!

Register now, spaces are limited. Maximum group size is six students, ensuring that everyone taking part enjoys close personal attention from the instructor. All tools, materials and equipment are provided.

NOTE: This course involves some potentially messy processes so you are advised to wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
