Community Organizations come to the Aid of Van Duyn Elementary School

On Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 12:30 pm, representatives from the NAACP visited Van Duyn Elementary School (401 Loomis Ave.) to donate laptops to four students at the school. The students and their families were present to receive the devices.

Additionally, Van Duyn Principal Eva Williams has shared information about the following community drives that are benefitting SCSD students.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity gave $1,500 to Van Duyn to help purchase holiday gifts for students who have earned perfect attendance. The school purchased 100 $15 gift cards to Five Below and will present them to the students who had perfect attendance for the first semester so they can pick out their own holiday gifts.

The Salvation Army generously donated toys to seven SCSD schools as holiday gifts – gifting 400-600 items PER SCHOOL. Van Duyn, STEAM at Dr. King, McKinley-Brighton, Porter, Seymour, Delaware and Oasis have all received toys.
