Constituents Protest Outside John Katko’s Office After Congressman Endorses Donald Trump for President (Cancelled)

Tuesday at 12 p.m. EST, Constituents, activists and concerned citizens from across Syracuse and Central New York will protest outside of John Katko’s office in response to him formally endorsing Donald Trump’s reelection. The event has been cancelled due to weather. It will be rescheduled .

Last month, Congressman Katko gave Donald Trump his full endorsement. In endorsing this reelection, Congressman John Katko also endorses and embraces President Trump’s policies, including the 2017 tax bill (which Katko voted for), his administration’s rampant corruption, and his ongoing assault on our health care.

Most recently, Congressman Katko voted against the ERA, a measure that would ensure a constitutional guarantee for equal rights for women and provide new tools to challenge gender-based discrimination.

Additionally, the President released his 2020 budget, which proposes cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, guts protections for New Yorkers with preexisting conditions and jacks up the prices of prescription drugs. Congressman Katko, in his failure to denounce the budget, has accepted it as a good deal for Central New Yorkers.

Attendees will ensure their displeasure with Congressman Katko’s endorsement, voting record, and silence is made known by making their voices heard.
