County Legislature votes to accept funds to light the Loop the Lake trail
Syracuse, NY – County Executive Joanie Mahoney thanked Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli today for securing $1,000,000 in Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) grants to light the Loop the Lake trail. The County Legislature voted to accept the funds at their July meeting by a vote of 12-4.
The trail will be lit from the Amphitheater south to the current terminus at the Orange Lot, which is currently undergoing a 27-million-dollar investment to add underground infrastructure and pave a new 65-acre parking lot with a new onramp to 690. The lights will also be included, in part, with the newest portion of the trail, which will extend all the way to Hiawatha Boulevard.
“Assemblyman Magnarelli has been a tremendous partner and friend to Onondaga County. His leadership has resulted in additional funding to make our incredibly popular trail system even better,” said County Executive Mahoney. “On behalf of Onondaga County and the millions of people who use our parks every year, I want to express our gratitude and appreciation to Assemblyman Magnarelli.”
Assemblyman Magnarelli’ s enthusiastic support for Onondaga County Parks, including the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview, has resulted in annual additions and enhancements, including the newly paved trails last season.
