County Executive Ryan McMahon and Galaxy Media Announce 32nd Season of Lights on the Lake

Syracuse, NY – Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon and Galaxy Media Chief Operating Officer Carrie Wojtaszek announce that the 32nd season of Wegmans Lights on the Lake is scheduled to illuminate Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, November 15 –January 14, 2022 from 5-10pm, nightly.

“Once again Onondaga County is partnering with Galaxy Media to present the 32nd season of Lights on the Lake,” said County Executive Ryan McMahon.  “This holiday tradition continues to grow and remain a favorite event for so many people. We appreciate the collaborative effort of the Parks Department and Galaxy to continuously improve the show and look forward to celebrating the 32nd anniversary.”

The public-private partnership has allowed the continuation and growth of an already successful program. Sponsored by Wegmans, collaborative efforts like these have proven to be beneficial in creating exciting events in Onondaga County.

“Wegmans is proud to once again sponsor this family friendly holiday event,” said Evelyn Ingram, Director, Community Engagement at Wegmans Food Markets. “During the holiday season, this year in particular, it is gratifying to know we are providing an option for socially distant and safe entertainment to families across this region.”

“We are so proud to continue our partnership with Onondaga County,” said Carrie Wojtaszek, COO of Galaxy Media.  “This is a great family tradition that thousands from our community enjoy.  We love being a part of an event that allows families to make memories each and every year!”

Lights on the Lake will be extended by five days once again this year to support non-profits within our community.  From Monday, January 10th to Friday, January 14th, visitors will have five more opportunities to visit the show, for the reduced rate of $5 per vehicle, to say goodbye to the holiday season and to help five worthy organizations.  These tickets must also be purchased online and in advance with proceeds going directly to the charities.  Applications are currently being accepted, through Friday, November 5th, to be the recipients of the charity drive-thru proceeds.  Local 501C3 charities can apply at www.lightsonthelake.com by clicking on the “Charity Submissions” tab.  A doggy drive-thru will be held on Tuesday, November 16th and all proceeds from that night will go to HumaneCNY.  All charity nights will run from 5-10pm and tickets must be purchased online, in advance at www.lightsonthelake.com.

On Wednesday, November 17th, Lights on the Lake will support the men and women who work tirelessly to protect our country and invite any active military or veteran to drive through, for free, on Salute the Troops Night. Online reservations are not needed but a military ID will be required at the ticket booth.

On Sunday, November 21st at 6am, the popular Lights on the Lake 5K will return to Onondaga Lake Park.  The early start time of the race will allow for runners to view the lights while running before sunrise.  A percentage of the proceeds will benefit Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.  The race will be capped at 750 runners.  Registration for the run is now available at www.lightsonthelake.com.

Visitors can be on the lookout for the following new additions this year: an 18 foot smart light tree, a holiday dragon, a winter sky line, new LED flood lights and additional tree lights.  Visitors will also receive a gift when driving through Lights on the Lake this year.  Every vehicle passing through the ticket gate at Lights on the Lake will receive a coupon for an Ultimate Wash from Valet Auto Wash, the official car wash of Lights on the Lake.  This $18 value will be given to each vehicle so that local vehicles can shine bright, just like the lights at Lights on the Lake!
