County Executive Ryan McMahon Applauds Syracuse Common Council for Extending Historic Sales Tax Agreement

Syracuse Common Council vote was unanimous

Syracuse, N.Y. – County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II today applauded the Syracuse Common Council for unanimously passing a 10-year extension of the historic sales tax agreement. The vote follows the one taken by the County Legislature earlier this month and affirms the previous agreement passed in 2010. The new agreement will now expire in 2030.

County Executive McMahon said, “Congratulations to the Syracuse Common Council for passing the extension of this historic sales tax agreement. Your unanimous vote recognizes our renewed spirit of cooperation and appreciation that we are all in this together.” McMahon continued, “As I have said many times, we cannot have a healthy county without a healthy city nor a healthy city without a healthy county. This agreement provides much needed financial certainty and was simply the right thing to do.”
