Syracuse, NY – Through the passage of a local law sponsored by County Legislator Mary T. Kuhn of DeWitt, Onondaga County yesterday took the first step toward becoming the 26th county in New York State to opt into the program.
Open C-PACE as the program is called, is already in effect in the City of Syracuse. It was credited with helping secure financing for energy efficiency upgrades in the revitalization of the Hotel Syracuse into the Marriott Syracuse Downtown.
Open C-PACE offers developers, commercial and non-profit building owners customizable loan terms that can last as long as the expected life of the improvement, such as a high-efficiency H-VAC system. More information can be found at www.eicpace.org.
In a win for sustainable economic development in the suburban towns of Onondaga County, it is our hope that this program over time helps our environment and our economy.
The Democratic Caucus congratulates Legislators Kuhn (District 7), Ryan (District 8), and legislators of both parties who supported this win-win for building owners, for the environment, and for the community.
