As numbers continue to pour in from test results, calculations are beginning to reflect progress in bending the curve, regarding the spread of COVID-19 in our area.  Multiple testing sites are being coordinated to begin testing workers from nursing homes, this also includes vulnerable populations- our seniors. The East Syracuse location is the first where people with minor symptoms can go without a referral from a doctor. The plan for testing; Nursing home staff –new testing site at the East Syracuse Walmart parking lot. Nursing home residents will be tested in-place by Nascentia Health, which provides nursing care within homes. Independent seniors at affected communities will be asked to get tested at the county’s triage site, located at the Syracuse Community Health Center.

According to Onondaga County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, ”People are getting better, people are going through their quarantine process and they’re not getting sick, this is important at moving forward. This number is an important number in our process related to our medical infrastructure. Remember in any restart, whenever that begins, we need to be live, tracking attacking this virus throughout this community. We need resources going to that, certainly with quarantine numbers going in the right direction, this is very positive as well”
