Town of Salina, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the death of a man who was found floating near the shoreline of Onondaga Lake late last night.
On August 20th, at approximately 11:11 P.M., Sheriff’s Deputies along with emergency personnel responded to the shoreline of Onondaga Lake near the Onondaga Lake Parkway CSX Bridge, for what was reported as a body discovered floating in the lake. A group of individuals bow fishing on a charter boat came across the body and immediately called 911. Members from the Liverpool Fire Department along with the Seneca River Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team were able to bring the body to shore, where medical personnel pronounced the man deceased.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene and continue to investigate the death. An autopsy is expected to be performed sometime today by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, who will attempt to identify the victim and the cause of death.
