Town of Onondaga, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a serious crash involving a single vehicle that occurred this evening on Split Rock Road in the Town of Onondaga.
This evening at approximately 9:05 PM., sheriff’s deputies along with rescue personnel responded to a reported crash involving a vehicle that struck a tree in the 3800 block of Split Rock Road. Deputies investigating the crash report that a pick-up truck, being operated by an adult male, was traveling eastbound on Split Rock Road when the truck crossed over the westbound lane and struck a large tree on the north side of the road. The collision with the tree caused significant damage to the vehicle and the driver was trapped for several minutes before rescue personnel was able extricate him. The driver was rushed to Upstate University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation and have closed a portion of Split Rock Road while members of the Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team process the scene. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
