City of Syracuse, New York–The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Custody Department Deputy has been charged following an Onondaga County grand jury indictment.
Deputy Jeffrey Lewis (52), of Madison County, was charged today with two counts of official misconduct. An internally initiated investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office accused Lewis of providing protected information to the inmate population relative to an ongoing criminal trial. Lewis has been suspended since July 9th without pay per New York State Civil Service procedure.
Lewis, who has been a Custody Deputy since 2004, was arrested today by members of the Sheriff’s Office. He is expected to be arraigned in County Court.
