Detectives Make Arrest in Nedrow Shooting

Town of Onondaga, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reports that Detectives have charged a Town of Onondaga man in connection with Sunday evenings shooting in Nedrow that left another man injured.

On October 10th, at approximately 7:19 P.M., Deputies responded to the 200 block of West Roswell Avenue for a shooting with injuries call. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 43 year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies quickly applied two tourniquets to the victim’s leg to control the bleeding while additional deputies searched the area for the suspect who was last seen leaving the area in a dark colored unknown make/model vehicle. Witnesses at the scene advised deputies that an altercation occurred at a gathering behind a residence on West Roswell Avenue when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim once. The victim was transported to Upstate Hospital, where he was treated and eventually released.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect resided at 222 West Roswell Avenue and was identified as Johnny Cannon III (33). Cannon turned himself in to detectives this afternoon and was charged with assault in the 1st degree, criminal use of a firearm in the 1st degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree.

Cannon is currently being held in the Justice Center and arraigned was scheduled for sometime that evening.
