Edward Smith Pre-K-8 School will host the 13th Annual African American Panel Discussion on Friday, February 26, 2016. This prestigious event will showcase a range of accomplished guest speakers and performers, including Dr. Zheadric Barbra, Executive Director of School Turnaround for the Syracuse City School District and Linda R. Ervin of the Onondaga County Legislature.( see photo)
The event will also feature a rendition of the Black National Anthem performed by singer Tracy Dunbar, as well as the unveiling of the African-American Postal Stamp by the United States Postal Service, represented by Darlene Dow.
The goal of this event is to internalize in students the spirit of hard work, good character, education, and entrepreneurship. Organized each year by veteran teacher Karen Blue, the African American Panel Discussion is an eagerly-awaited high point of each school year for students, staff and the community.
The event, will be held at Ed Smith School (1106 Lancaster Ave.) from 9:00 – 11:00 am on Friday, February 26.
