Falls Prevention Awareness Day – September 22, 2017

The Onondaga County Office for Aging, has announced an event marking the 10h Annual Falls Prevention Awareness Day. It will be held on September 22, 2017, the first day of fall. This year’s theme is “Ten Years Standing Together to Prevent Falls.”

This free event seeks to raise awareness on how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults.

On September 22, 2017 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm seniors, age 60 and older, are welcome to participate in:

 

  • Falls Education
  • Strength & Balance Screening
  • A Strength & Balance Exercise Class
  • Lunch

This event will be held at the Syracuse Dunbar Center, 1453 South State Street, Syracuse, NY 13205.  Registration is required by calling (315) 435-2362 Ext. 4942; or you can email: ellenmccauley@ongov.net.

The Onondaga County Office for Aging is a member of the Onondaga County Step Up To Stop Falls Coalition; a diverse group of organizations whose mission is to support healthy aging by measurably reducing the incidence of falls, related injuries and resulting mortality among individuals, age 60 and above, living in the community.
