Syracuse, N.Y. – At 12:55 P.M., the Syracuse Fire Department was called to 425 South Alvord Street for a fire in a detached garage behind that address. The first units arrived in just 2 minutes and 25 seconds. Upon arrival, crews reported that the garage was fully involved, and the flames were spreading to two nearby houses, both of which were vacant.
Due to the quick work of the first-arriving companies, the spread of the flames was stopped and the damage to the nearby houses was limited to the exterior. The detached garage was extensively damaged. The Syracuse Police Department, National Grid, and AMR also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. Members of the SFD Fire Investigation Bureau are currently working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
