Frank Cetera, the Green Party of Onondaga County nominee for Syracuse Common Council (At-Large), spoke at the steps of City Hall announcing his campaign today at 10:30am. The address took place in front of the steps on the south side of the building facing E. Washington Street.
Cetera spoke on the need for more fair representation in Syracuse government through reforms like independent redistricting and Ranked Choice Voting, developing cooperative businesses to build community wealth and ensuring the Community Grid and other land developments will serve neglected constituencies over wealthy real estate interests.
He also addressed the ongoing austerity policies depriving schools, infrastructure and services of needed funds and how recent incidents have underscored a great need for police reform.
Cetera took 21% of the vote in a three-way race for Council District 2 in 2015 and 6.8% of the vote for Council At-Large in 2018.
Cetera works as a small business advisor in the NY Small Business Development Center at Onondaga Community College, where he also serves as Professional Administrator Union Steward. He is the President of the Board of Cooperative Federal Credit Union (a federal CDFI) and has helped cultivate community gardens throughout the city through his Alchemical Nursery nonprofit.
