Juvenile Charged with DWI after Fleeing from Deputies

Town of Onondaga, New YorkThe Onondaga County Sheriff Office reports that a juvenile has been charged with driving while intoxicated after fleeing from deputies.

This morning at approximately 2:48 am, sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported suspicious vehicle in the area of Howlett Hill Road near Crestwood Lane. Upon their arrival, they observed a dark colored Buick sedan stopped in the middle of the road on Crestwood Lane with the vehicle headlights off. As deputies approached the vehicle, the operator sped off. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the driver refused to pull over. The vehicle continued for several miles before becoming disabled on North Road in the Town of Tully, where the driver was taken into custody.

The driver, who was the sole occupant, was identified as a 17 year old male from the Town of Tully. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation in the 3rd degree, unlicensed operator, reckless driving, failing to stop for stop signs, speeding and operating a motor vehicle without headlights.

He is issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Onondaga Court on June 25th.
