Syracuse, NY (Jan. 5, 2018) – New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul will attend the inauguration of the city’s new Mayor and Deputy Mayor to deliver comments on behalf of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Congressman John Katko and County Executive Joanie Mahoney will also be present.
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens will take their public oaths of office on Saturday Jan. 6, 2018 at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse. The event was previously planned to take place at City Hall, but has been relocated due to extreme temperatures. Tours of City Hall will be postponed to a later date.
Doors to the theatre open at 9 a.m. and official ceremonies begin at 10 a.m. The inaugurations will be preceded and followed by local youth dance and cultural performance groups. Attendees can also enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and a variety of specialty treats from local restaurants.
Two downtown locations will provide free parking: Clinton Street Garage at 401 S. Clinton Street and the lot on the corner of Clinton and Fayette Streets. There is space for about 150 cars. Street parking is also available.
