Literacy CNY’S ScrabbleMania On Friday, February 1, 2019

Syracuse, NY — January 28, 2019: LiteracyCNY will host its 9th annual ScrabbleMania event on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. Honored guests will include Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon, both providing opening remarks, as well as companies and organizations from throughout the area.

LiteracyCNY’s mission is to provide adults in Onondaga County with the literacy tools and skills that they need to be contributing, productive, and engaged members of the community. The organization advocates for adult education, providing instruction, and partnering with other community based agencies. Improving access to adult literacy addresses inter-generational poverty, making the community stronger. LiteracyCNY enrolled more than 450 adult students last year and consistently exceeds its NYS Department of Education mandates. Learn about the history of LiteracyCNY

What is ScrabbleMania? Teams of 8-10 players compete against each other to build the highest possible scoring SCRABBLE board in 20-minute rounds of play. Prizes will be awarded. The event includes game playing, refreshments, raffle prizes, and live entertainment from internationally acclaimed jazz musician and six-time SAMMY award winner Ronnie Leigh. 93Q’s Ted and Amy will return as celebrity emcees.
