(Syracuse, New York) 7even Streams, LLC will announce on Monday, June 7th, 2021 the acquisition and development plans for 4702 and 4710 South Salina Street in the Valley Neighborhood of Syracuse. The two vacant buildings are positioned by the company to become a dynamic food and retail location and a community hub for entrepreneurship, workforce training and legacy building.
7even Streams, LLC is a partnership started in October 2020 between local entrepreneurs Victoria Coit, David Hills, and Simone Hills. The three enjoined their passions of creating opportunities for growth in the city of Syracuse with a focus on uplifting the community with their plans for these buildings and the Valley neighborhood.
“There’s so much murmur about economic and community development; I’ve just been fascinated by that piece from a community organizer standpoint. I asked myself ‘how can this be its own hub or gateway?’’’ said Coit.
She continued that “nobody really spoke about anything in the Valley, and it looked as if it used to be the place to be. I think vacant buildings breed a certain type of environment, and so vibrancy is going to breed a different environment as well.”
4702 South Salina Street, a vacant 1-story commercial building at the corner of South Salina and Seeley Ave. offers over 5,000 square feet of possibility, which 7even Streams plans to take half and transform into a curated community marketplace. 8’ by 8’ and 8’ by 10’ market-style stalls will be designed for select local entrepreneurs to rent, with focus on supporting minority- and women-owned businesses. 7even Streams plans to outfit the other half of the building for a fresh meat-market, providing quality meats and poultry fresh to the community.
Next door, the former Valley Diner space at 4710 S. Salina will take on a new life as a “ghost restaurant”, also known as virtual restaurants or cloud kitchens, which offer takeout and delivery-only kitchens. One to three stakeholders will utilize the facility as their point of production, allowing for multiple concepts to be produced in one space, without the rigidity of a formal restaurant.
While plans are still in the works, the two buildings will soon begin to undergo the needed renovations to fit their updated uses. The project will employ C&S Companies as a General Contractor and renovations kick off on June 7, initiating the first phase of development which will ready the marketplace area in 4702. Two exterior walls will be activated as a canvas for local artists to capture the energy and essence of the neighborhood through a community mural project. The two sites will become a vibrant destination to shop, gather, and engage with the diverse culture of Syracuse.
