Local Judgeships and County Legislature Candidates Forum

This Candidate Forum is the fourth in a series of public forums sponsored by ACTS, along with other Syracuse area organizations.

For this Forum, ACTS, along with other organizations in the Syracuse area will engage with candidates running for the Onondaga County Legislature and for Local Judgeships. On Monday, July 17th, at 7:00pm, we will better understand how each candidate’s viewpoint will affect our lives here in Syracuse.

As the chief policy-making body of Onondaga County, the Legislature is responsible for the proposal and amendment of laws. Additionally, the Legislature must review the County Executive’s proposed budget, modify it, and approve the adopted budget annually.

Meanwhile, as the judicial entity of our community, local judges are responsible for upholding and interpreting laws. These vital government positions rely heavily on each other, and will require us to make responsible decisions when selecting from the prospective candidates. This forum will help in those decisions.
