Madden calls on Mayor to close City offices and release all non-essential staff

SYRACUSE, NY – With winter storm Stella hovering over central New York, and with a State of Emergency declared by Governor Cuomo, Kyle Madden, candidate for Common Council, has issued the following statement:

“With snowfall rates reaching nearly two inches per hour in the Syracuse area, I implore Mayor Miner to close all City offices and release all non-essential staff. Snowfall estimates are increasing, road conditions are worsening and traveling is becoming more difficult. The safety of our staff must be a top priority. Many county functions, our courts, post offices and schools have made the right call to shut down for the day. The City must do the same.

“Further, I encourage residents to check on elderly neighbors to ensure their safety and comfort during the remainder of winter storm Stella.

“Residents should also take care to ensure fire hydrants are cleared so emergency crews may have easy access in the event of emergency. I encourage neighbors to adopt the hydrants on their street. Events like this take everyone’s cooperation and help to ensure the safety of the public.”
