Town of Salina, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office has charged an East Syracuse man in connection with a November assault and robbery incident that occurred in Mattydale.
On November 12th, 2019, deputies were called to the area of Brewerton Road and Kirsch Drive after a 51 year old male victim called 911 to report that he was physically assaulted and robbed by another male he met online. The victim arranged to meet the suspect he met on the website “Craigslist” at a location in Mattydale. During that encounter, the suspect assaulted the victim and stole his vehicle which contained his wallet and cellphone inside. The suspect was last seen fleeing the area east on Brookfield Road.
The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he was treated and released for injuries he sustained to his head. Later that day, deputies located the victim’s vehicle abandoned in a driveway on West Molloy Road.
Subsequent investigation conducted by detectives, a suspect was developed and later confirmed from evidence collected at the scene. The suspect was identified as 30 year old Samuel Quackenbush of East Syracuse. Quackenbush was taken into custody on March 3rd, after reporting to his Probation Officer. He was charged with two counts of robbery in the second degree and arraigned in Centralized Court. Quackenbush is currently being held in the Justice Center on bail set at $50,000 cash $100,000 bond. He is due to appear at the Town of Salina Court on March 10th.
