March 4th Busy Day for Syracuse Police Department as they handle multiple Incidents: 170 Packets of Heroin and Guns Found in Traffic Stops


Syracuse Police Recover Over 170 Packets of Heroin After Traffic Stop–  On Wednesday, March 4th, 2020, at approximately 4:31 p.m., Officers John Harriman and Craig Walters conducted a vehicle and traffic stop in the 300 block of Gifford Street. The vehicle, a 2019 Ram 1500 was observed to commit several traffic infractions. The vehicle was occupied by Clinton Hill, 21; Tyreese Edwards 18; and three juvenile males ages 17, 16, and 14-years-old, all from Syracuse. While speaking with the occupants, the Officers became aware of drugs inside the vehicle and subsequently conducted a search, where they located over 170 packets of heroin, marihuana, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

All of the occupants were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, 4th, and 7th degrees, and two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. The 16-year-old juvenile was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana in the 1st Degree. Hill and Edwards were both also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd Degree. The 17-year-old juvenile was also issued several traffic infractions. Hill and Edwards were both lodged at the Justice Center. The juveniles were arraigned in accordance with the juvenile arraignment process.                      

Syracuse Police Recover Handgun & Drugs After Traffic Stop         

On Wednesday, March 4th, 2020, at approximately 10:38 p.m., Officers Ralph Solis and Daniel Pietricola conducted a vehicle and traffic stop in the 2500 block of Erie Boulevard East.  The 2020 Nissan Altima was being operated without headlights by Kentwan Brown, 34, of Syracuse, and Joshia Worely, 27, of Syracuse, was a passenger.  Neither party possessed a valid driver’s license.  Officers located a loaded .22 caliber handgun and PCP inside the vehicle.  During the investigation, Brown attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by Officer Solis.

Brown and Worely were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th and 7th Degrees, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.  Brown was also charged with Resisting Arrest and traffic infractions.  Brown and Worely were subsequently lodged at the Justice Center

Syracuse Police Recover Handgun After Property Check     

On Wednesday, March 4th, 2020, at approximately 11:42 p.m., Officers Raymond Keefe and Anthony Sticca conducted a property check in Lincoln Park. Syracuse City Parks close at 9:00 p.m. between October 1st and April 30th.

The Officers located a 2020 Hyundai Elantra in the park that was occupied by Curtiss Frank, 20; Taijaleke Smith, 20; Sophia Day, 20; and Nina Walburger, 22, all of Syracuse. While speaking with the occupants, the Officers became of aware of marihuana inside the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, a defaced, loaded 9mm Handgun was located.

Day, Smith, Walburger, and Frank were all charged with violation of Parks Curfew, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 3rd Degrees. All parties were subsequently lodged at the Justice Center.
