Mayor Institutes Mandatory Policy Regarding Diversity Issues in the Workplace

Syracuse NY- Mayor Driscoll announced April 1st policies and procedures which will be mandated to all City departments, with regard to diversity/personnel issues effective immediately.

The policy has two components:

1. Standardized procedure to the Department of Personnel regarding notification of a workplace discrimination involving race, gender, disability (non-work related), harassment, sexual harassment, religion, national origin and/or sexual orientation.

2.Implementation of mandatory diversity training for current city employees and new hires on an annual basis.

Mayor Driscoll discussed the new City of Syracuse Policy at his weekly department head meeting today and has discussed the Policy with Councilor Majority Leader Bill Ryan.
