National training program for veterans considering careers in politics
Mayor Walsh had the opportunity to share his political journey with a group of veterans participating in the newly launched Veterans in Politics program. The initiative, co-led by Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, offers servicemembers training and insight to assist in their quest to be impactful elected officials.
Maxwell’s alumni and faculty are providing expertise and educational sessions designed to help the participants move the needle forward as they continue serving. From the beginning of his career up to his time running for office, Mayor Walsh offered his experience. He spoke about everything from running as an Independent, fundraising for his campaign, establishing a strong team to community engagement, creating a policy agenda, creating a vision for the city and much more.
This first group of impressive veterans from across the country continue to answer the call to service. They are receiving the kind of training that will help to change lives in their respective home states right here in #Syracuse. #ThankYouForService
