Mayor Walsh Says Council Approval of $1.3 Million In Pandemic Relief Funds Is “Another Big Step Forward”

Statement by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh on Common Council approval of ARPA spending on job training and placement and COPS cameras:

“Today is another big step forward in helping our residents and neighborhoods recover from the impact of COVID-19. I commend the Common Council on its approval of two major investments of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. With $824,000 for workforce training and job placement, we can get more city residents back on their feet and ready for the unprecedented job opportunities occurring in skilled trades, advanced manufacturing, and technology. And with nearly $500,000 for COPS cameras, we will expand and upgrade our network of street cameras for neighborhood safety. I appreciate the Council’s continued partnership on pandemic relief action.”
