Mayor Walsh to Issue Proclamation Honoring Artist Carrie Mae Weems for New “Resist Covid Take Six” Public Outreach Campaign

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and  Common Council President Helen Hudson will recognize world-renowned artist Carrie Mae Weems and her new public outreach campaign to raise public  awareness about COVID-19 among people of color and Native American communities, populations disproportionately impacted by the virus.

Led by Weems’ Social Studies 101 Inc. and Syracuse University, along with several community partners, “Resist COVID Take 6” includes public service media messages and a series of promotional items—buttons, posters, flyers, shopping bags, hand fans, magnets and door hangers—to be made available at community centers, COVID-19 testing sites, food banks, grocery stores and churches.
