NAACP PARTNERS WITH DELTA SORORITYTO LAUNCH VOTER EDUCATION / AWARENESS SERIES

The Syracuse/Onondaga Co. NAACP and The Syracuse Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Unite to Launch Attack to Combat Voter Apathy

As a result of an apparent continuing disinterest in the electoral and political process, as demonstrated by the lack of turnout in the recent election, the NAACP and the Deltas have united to launch a frontal assault to combat voter apathy in the Syracuse Community.

The initiative will be conducted through a series of informal non-partisan work-shops that will be held in various parts of the community, and will include a number of social and political activists with comprehensive knowledge of the political process, and how political parties function.

Among those scheduled to participate are Khalid Bey, newly elected Fourth District Councilor; Barrie Gewanter, ACLU executive director; and Lionel Logan and Charles Pierce, long-time community and political activists.
