There’s a lot going on in the neighborhood that encompasses the Hawley-Green, Washington Square communities; its boarders are Teall Ave., Burnet Ave., Grant Blvd, State St., and Hiawatha Blvd. Meetings are usually held monthly and neighborhood involvement is encouraged. The following are just a few things going on in the neighborhood:
Holiday Hayrides at Burnet Park
The City of Syracuse Parks Department will offer free horse-drawn wagon rides on December 14 & 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM (while space is available). Meet Santa and enjoy free holiday treats!
Annual Winter Giveaway
The Syracuse Northeast Community Center will be distributing coats, hats, gloves, socks, and scarves for their Annual Winter Giveaway! Friday, December 21 from 10 AM – 2 PM at SNCC. Open to the public.
The Washington Square Neighborhood Association will have it’s meeting on Thursday, December 20. Meet & Greet starts at 6:30 PM with refreshments. Speaker Jonathan Link Logan from NorthsideUP will share an infographic on I-81 options.

Community For The Grid Fundraiser

Members of Syracuse’s Vietnamese community, Operation Northern Comfort, and friends spent the weekend building blessing boxes. These bright pink boxes are located throughout the community and filled with food and other necessities for people to take as needed, with no questions asked.
Cathedral Candle Company Expansion
Cathedral Candle Company has expanded at its location on the Northside. The $2.5 million investment was privately funded and is part of a multiphase master-development plan.
