NEHDA Neighborhood Updates: SHARP Program and 8th Annual Birdhouses for Fair Housing Auction & Fundraiser

8th Annual Birdhouses for Fair Housing Auction & Fundraiser Join NEHDA for a fun evening of bidding wars and bird themed cocktails, all for a good cause! Outbid your friends on unique birdhouses designed and decorated by artists, organizations and local celebrities at a live and silent auction. Cocktails & hors d’oeuvres reception starting at 5:30 and live auction at 6:30. All proceeds benefit CNY Fair Housing’s efforts to eliminate housing discrimination and create neighborhoods of opportunity throughout Central and Northern New York. Thursday, April 4th from 5:30 – 8:00 PM. SKY Armory.

SHARP Program

SHARP provides income-eligible homeowners in who live in the city of Syracuse with grants of up to $1500 for minor home repairs. The applicant will be responsible for 10% of project costs (maximum contribution of $100).

Examples of eligible work (mostly exterior):

– Window and door replacement
– Sidewalk replacement
– Porch repairs
– Step replacement

All interior work is non-eligible except for:
– Electrical
– Heating
– Hot water heaters
– Furnace/preventative maintenance

North Side Learning Center is hosting our annual Spring Into Literacy Dinner to support education and literacy in our community. Join us for a special night to learn more about what we have accomplished this year. Hear from students, staff, and volunteers as well as our keynote speaker, Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud. The night will end with a silent auction. Sunday, April 28th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Syracuse Cultural Center.
