OGS to Award over $2.1 Million in New Construction Contracts

ALBANY, NY (02/11/2010)(readMedia)– New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced that bids representing more than $2.1 million in new construction have been awarded. The awards encompass nine contracts that will provide work in six counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller’s Office. Seven of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

CAYUGA COUNTY

A construction contract to provide plumbing and structural modifications to vehicle maintenance, Building Number 18 at the Auburn Correctional Facility in Auburn, NY was bid by 11 firms. Of those 11, M & Z Construction Contracting Corp. of Brooklyn, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $128,100.

DUTCHESS COUNTY

Construction, electrical, heating and ventilation and plumbing contracts were bid to provide respiratory isolation rooms in Building Number 5 at Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, NY.

∙ Construction: F.C. & C. Constr. Enterprises, Inc. of Highland Falls, NY was the apparent low bidder out of 12 firms. The low bid was $610,800.

∙ Electrical: Rondout Electric, Inc. of Poughkeepsie, NY was the apparent low bidder out of 11 firms. The low bid was $118,429.

∙ Heating and Ventilation: John V. Warren, Inc. of Green Island, NY was the apparent low bidder out of seven firms. The low bid was $501,900.

∙ Plumbing: Aero Plumbing & Heating Co., Inc. of Vienna, NJ was the apparent low bidder out of seven firms. The low bid was $166,870.

GREENE COUNTY

A construction contract to repair concrete block walls in a vehicle wash bay, at maintenance headquarters at the Department of Transportation Region 1, Greene County in Cairo, NY was bid by 11 firms. Of those 11, FMI Masonry Corp. of Latham, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $66,900.

ORLEANS COUNTY

A plumbing contract to replace failing domestic hot water piping at Building Numbers 18 and 19 at the Orleans Correctional Facility in Albion, NY was bid by eight firms. Of those eight, Hoot Mechanical & Electrical, Inc. of Lockport, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $153,966.

QUEENS COUNTY

A construction contract to correct security door deficiencies, Building Number 55 at the Queens Children’s Psychiatric Center in Bellerose, NY was bid by 11 firms. Of those 11, C & M Door Controls, Inc. of Port Reading, NJ was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $231,900.

TOMPKINS COUNTY

A construction contract to replace three in-ground fuel storage tanks at the Finger Lakes Residential Center in Lansing, NY was bid by eight firms. Of those eight, J.N. Giammarino Construction, Inc. of Binghamton, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $208,000.
