Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney and CSEA Local 834 President Kathy Zabinski announced today a tentative contract agreement has been reached. The four year contract would be in effect for the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
“It is important that we have a long term contract in place for the CSEA that balances the tremendous work their members do and the best interests of the taxpayer,” said Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney. “The tentative agreement reached with the CSEA leadership accomplishes both goals and we thank them for working intensively with us on a very fair plan.”
“The CSEA negotiation team worked over a five day period with the County to reach a tentative agreement. Wages and Health Insurance were among the several items discussed and agreed upon, taking into consideration the lower paygrades ability to pay,” said CSEA Local 834 President Kathy Zabinski. “The terms and language of the agreement are being finalized and will be presented to the membership beginning Monday August 8, 2016. The tentative date for the membership vote is Thursday September 8, 2016.”
The tentative agreement provides 2% raises for CSEA members for each of the four years. The 2% raise for 2016 will be retroactive to January 1, 2016. Employee health benefit contributions will gradually increase from 11.12% in 2016 to 14% in 2017, 16% in 2018, and 18% in 2019. In 2020 the rate will be 20% for grades 9-15 and will stay at 18% for grades 1-8.
