Onondaga County Sheriff’s Detectives Continue to Investigate Hit & Run

Town of Salina, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the hit and run collision involving a vehicle that struck a pedestrian Saturday night on the Onondaga Lake Parkway.

On October 12th, at approximately 11:08 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies along with members of the Liverpool Police Department, Onondaga County Park Rangers and rescue personnel, responded to a reported hit and run involving a pedestrian on the Onondaga Lake Parkway near the CSX railroad bridge. Deputies investigating the incident report that a 31 year old male was struck by a 2001 Nissan Altima, which continued east on the parkway towards the city of Syracuse. The victim, who has been identified as Jason Quackenbush of Liverpool, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.

The Parkway was closed for several hours Saturday night while members of the Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team processed the scene.

Sheriff’s Detectives have since located the vehicle involved and continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Sheriff’s Tip line at 315-435-3051.
