Pastor Lateef Johnson-Kinsey Joins Urban CNY as Contributing Writer he will write about matters of faith in addition to inspirational messages through prayer according to Johnson-Kinsey, “I have been living in Philadelphia since 1998 and have been moved by God to come back home and help rebuild and bring our inner city churches into the 21st century by coming out of the church and attacking the needs of our community. I have been under Bishop David G Evans, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, NJ ( since 1998. I have observed and been a part of a ministry that has grown from 25 members to currently over 20,000 members.

My goal is to bring what I have learned over the past 15 years to Syracuse to rebuild and take our community church into the 21st century.  I am currently the Executive Director of Transforming Lives & Communities Inc. a 501 c 3. I have been pastoring for one year at Mount Pleasant Full Gospel Baptist Church which has just purchased the old Elmwood Presbyterian Church and will soon be The Harvest Center, a community center that happens to be a church. We are Transforming lives and our communities through meeting the needs of our community and showing the love of Jesus Christ.”
