Pedestrian Dies after being struck on South Salina Street

Town of Onondaga, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a crash involving a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian this last evening on South Salina Street near Hoover Drive in the Town of Onondaga.

At approximately 8:39 p.m. September 1, Sheriff’s Deputies along with rescue personnel from the Nedrow Fire Department and TLC Ambulance responded to South Salina Street near Hoover Drive for a reported crash involving a vehicle that struck a pedestrian. When deputies arrived on scene they located an adult male deceased on the side of the road. Deputies further discovered that the vehicle involved in the crash had left the scene and according to witnesses, the vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on South Salina Street.

Deputies have since located the vehicle involved along with the driver, who is currently cooperating with the investigation.  South Salina Street between Lindbergh Road and Ruhamah Avenue was closed, while members of the Accident Investigations Team process the scene.
