CNY Solidarity Coalition will host a rally against the GOP proposed budget this Wednesday at noon, October 4, 2017, 440 S. Warren St., Syracuse, NY 13202, on the sidewalk outside the building . This proposed budget, which will be voted on Thursday, October 5, lays out a clear path for a $1.5 trillion tax cut to benefit the wealthy and corporations.
Trickle-down economics does not work. Even President Reagan’s economic advisor Bruce Bartlett has challenged this GOP Budget Proposal and the notion that tax cuts lead to economic growth. In his opinion piece published last week in The Washington Post, he states, the GOP is engaged in “wishful thinking. So is most Republican rhetoric around tax cutting. In reality, there’s no evidence that a tax cut now would spur growth.”
Rally against the GOP Budget Proposal
Who: CNY Solidarity Coalition
What: Rally to protest the proposed GOP Budget, which will be voted on Thursday, Oct 5.
When: Wednesday, October 4, noon.
Where: 440 S. Warren St., Syracuse, NY 13202, on the sidewalk outside the building
Why: The proposed GOP Budget paves the way for a $1.5 trillion tax cut—a tax cut independent analysis concludes would far exceed that price tag and overwhelmingly benefit corporations and the rich. Central New York has seen what these tax cuts for the rich do: send money offshore while essential services to our communities are cut.
