Rep. John Katko, Local Non-Profit Agencies & Community-Based Organizations to Participate in Forum to Strengthen Regional Anti-Poverty Efforts

(Syracuse, NY ) Tuesday, May 3, 2016, U.S. Rep. John Katko  (NY-24)  joined local non-profit organizations as well as community service activists and anti-poverty groups to participate in a forum on addressing the devastating poverty rate in the City of Syracuse and the surrounding areas. The event took place at 10:00 a.m. at the Mary Nelson Center, 2849 South Salina Street in Syracuse

Representatives were attendance from Syracuse University, Crouse Hospital, Upstate Medical University, BOCES, New York State Department of Health, Onondaga County Department of Social Services, the Spanish Action League, ACR Health, Jubilee Homes, OG’s Against Gun Violence, Women on the Move, as well as other grassroots and at-risk youth organizations.

The event featured presentations by representatives of the Washington-based Center for Neighborhood Enterprise, which has served for 35 years to strengthen and support community-based efforts to uplift and revitalize disadvantaged neighborhoods.
