Rep. Katko Touts Benefits for CNY Agriculture, Local Workforce with Passage of USMCA

U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) released the following statement regarding passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement Implementation Act [usmca]:

“Today, I proudly voted in support of the USMCA – a trade agreement that will make critical updates to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and significantly improve market access for American farmers and manufacturers. This agreement will promote further investment in Central New York’s economy and strengthen protections for our region’s working families.”

“Specifically, I am pleased that USMCA provides key wins for our local agricultural community. With Mexico and Canada serving as some of the most significant markets in the world for U.S. soybeans, this agreement is critical to ensuring trade certainty for our region’s soybean farmers. USMCA also addresses unfair trade barriers that have significantly reduced access to Canadian markets for our district’s dairy farmers and devastated our local farm economy.”

“I applaud passage of this long-awaited trade agreement and am proud to have supported a measure that will empower Central New York workers and our region’s agriculture industry.”
