Statement from Mayor Stephanie A. Miner on Consensus Draft Recommendations

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Mayor Stephanie A. Miner released the following statement upon receiving the draft recommendations issued today by the Consensus Commission on Local Government Modernization.

“I am proud my administration has embraced thoughtful new ways to do the people’s business. We need to ensure that any proposal is met with careful consideration and is in the best interests of the people of the City of Syracuse.

“It is critical that the public is fully engaged in the discussion of thesMayor Miner_Voting Rights individuale proposals. As I have said before, extensive public engagement and equitable representation are crucial if these efforts are to be successful. The details matter. I want to thank the Commission for their hard work and dedication to this important process.  I encourage the Commission to be available and accessible to the public, and encourage the public to take this opportunity to get involved come and speak on these issues.”
