Store Employee Shoots Man in Robbery Attempt

Store Employee May Not Face Charges

Syracuse, N.Y. – On Friday December 7th, 2018 at approximately 7:45 PM, Syracuse Police Officers responded to 419 Wolf Street, the Alibaba Market, in regards to a robbery call.  Upon arrival, Officers met with a store employee, who stated that a male suspect had just tried to rob the store.  The employee described the suspect as a black male, 6’00”, wearing all dark clothing and armed with a hand gun.

The store employee stated that he then shot at the suspect, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, a male in his 20’s suffering from gunshot wounds was located in the 600 block of LeMoyne Avenue.  The suspect was transported to Upstate University Hospital by AMR Ambulance, where he was rushed into surgery.  The suspect is now recovering and is listed in stable condition.

At this time, the investigation is continuing and no charges have been filed.  When the investigation is complete, and the suspect is discharged from the hospital, his identity and the charges against him will be released.

The store employee is not facing any charges at this time.
